Short Story: Amy Vs Hiro

Ok we were asked in Story Development to create a scene in group where one person uses their protagonist and the other uses their anatagonist. I created this before I start on making them as scripts so I have a better idea of how to use AC L Overlord's character Amy. Features my anatagonist Hiro :3

Dust clouds started to smoulder around the town of Acre, keeping the doors of villagers shut tight to hold out against the nearing dust storm. A solemn figure slowly rode through the middle of the cloudy barrier, his face and body concealed beneath the grips of his ebony shawl. A menacing snort erupted from his tobiano coloured mount as it was forced to walk between the dust barriers, flinging its head in annoyance at his master’s wishes. The sounds of the horse’s leisurely gait ricocheted throughout the seemingly deserted village as steel clashed upon cobbled stones. The pair trudged down numerous dingy alleyways where scaffolding and pottery threatened to rain down upon them, with every step they took as they closed in closer and closer to their awaiting destination.

Hastily tugging back on leather reins, the cloaked figure flawlessly dismounted his beautiful stallion cautiously stepping towards an ancient mud-bricked building. Its exterior seemed nothing out of the ordinary, pieces of bricks eroded away revealing a couple of the inside walls, momentary straw fragments broke away from their thatched domain whilst a wooden door, free off one of the hinges, moaned indignantly at being rocked forth and back by the cunning wind. Kicking down the door with ease, the man coughed slightly as dust remnants attacked his nasal system, he looked around the room which literally contained nothing but a few books that lay dormant near a tattered rug. As the hooded figure slightly crept amongst the room, the faintest sound of pressure being applied upon the roof resonated from the wood-worm ridden beams followed by a softly spoken string of curses; as though the scaffolding in the building were talking.

A harsh whinny beckoned the male back outside to his horse as it wildly tossed its head back, rearing maliciously as a pack of stones were hurled at the duo. Quickly glancing towards the roof, the man noticed a flash of brunette try to disappear from the roof tops, without warning he grabbed hold of his animal kicking it harshly in the ribs now giving chase to the female figure.

Amy sprinted forward jumping aimlessly across roof tops, dodging small knives that erupted from the man below. She knew they were closing in on her yet she had the ace up her sleeves, this terrain she knew like the back of her hand nothing could stop Amy from achieving the unachievable. Without warning threads of straw that were one taught shattered before Amy’s foot, giving way to her lithe bodyweight as she tumbled down to the grubby floor of a another deserted building. The female gasped incredulity from the sharp, twisted burning emitting from her right ankle as she valliant tried to stand up. Taking a closer inspection, Amy noted it was slight bent in awkward pose revealing to the possibility it could be broken.

Her breath hitched at cold metallic spear point raised against her windpipe.

“Tell me where the item that holds the mysterious power is, or you shall suffer an extremely slow, painful and vile execution” smirked the two toned blue and violet haired man.

“Go to hell Hiro” spat Amy

My CV

Eillisha Amelia Buccheri

Since I was little I always enjoyed watching anime and trying to draw the characters of my favourite shows like Pokemon and Digimon. On the other hand I didn’t try to improve my art or take the subject seriously until I was ten years old because, from a young age I had a fascination of animals- especially dolphins. Since then I’ve continuously tried to improve my work by expanding on art subjects such as: backdrops, realism, surrealism, flowers, pop art, animals, music, anime and manga. To illustrate my work, I use a variety of traditional and digital mediums having experience in speedpainting and animation by using programs like Photoshop and Sony Vegas. I’m also knowledgeable in using Wacom Bamboo Tablet software.

For my gaming experience I again started off at a young age delving into Oddworld series, Nokia Snake, Spyro The Dragon series, Rayman, Crash Bandicoot and Pokemon. I’ve mainly been a Pokemon fanatic buying each new series that released including Mystery Dungeon, Ranger and Dash versions as well as every single Spyro game that was released; apart from Skylanders. Gaming is another passion of mine as I enjoy a lot of art styles and the stories behind the games, which to me feels like reading a book -only I don’t have to visualise the images and I choose my motives as the character, sometimes reflecting on how the game could be better.

Currently I’m a gaming student at Confetti Technology Industry college who collaborate with Antenna, South Nottingham College and Du Montford Leicestershire University. At the age of 14 I had an art exhibition in Nottingham’s Yo Sushi restaurant, whilst also displaying some images in Dee Dee’s, Eastwood. I’ve won art competitions on Deviant Art and Utterly Horses earlier this year and gained awards for Art, English, Physical Education, French and LRC during my time at my secondary school: Kimberley Comprehensive, where my work has also been displayed including pieces from DT and Graphics. I’ve been asked to attend Gifted and Talented sessions just before I started Secondary School (July 2007) and in Year 10 (February 2011). As an added note I was asked to come in and teach the IT staff of Kimberley Comprehensive how to do ‘ Stop Motion’ Animation on Serif X3- may I also put all digital experience including animation and video editing I’ve learnt by myself studying it now for around 3-4 years.

Besides gaming and art, I help my Mum run the family business of dog walking, boarding, rescue and rehabilitation where I’ve been asked/ recommended to other people for my services. Sometimes I help out at local livery yards with their horses and I owned/ rescued an ex-race horse myself so I understand more in horse care than I do riding, I sometimes rescue aviary birds including parrots and hope to start a falconry course soon, plus I’ve taken on six terrapins where four of them were rescued. Before I stopped in February 2011 I was a professional ice-skater, training in disciplines figure and synchronised skating. I’ve won bronze in international and silver in national competitions, both my coaches used me as examples for other skaters who were learning new techniques or helping them during sessions. I’ve also helped other skaters accomplish higher motives in this sport before I left, where they are now competing in both national/international rivalries.

o   I plan out my work based on time limits so others can clearly see my progress as well as me.

Hobbies

At the moment I partake in few hobbies that keep me busy, if I’m not completing homework in time for its deadline. My job normally keeps me on my toes because as I said before I help my Mum run the family business of dog services, whilst I sometimes take on little projects of rehabilitating birds/ terrapins.  Other times I just enjoy helping horse owners out with their equines so I can gain further experience for when I hopefully retire setting up a rescue centre in Ohio, America, for ex-race horses in general but for other breeds as well including companions and Shetland Ponies.

Art is maybe one of my biggest hobbies in life with drawing and sketching being the most common. Even though I love animation I try to perfect my skills on paper, before I probe into the digital world using a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet so that my hand is more steady when drawing line art. Paints and soft pastels are probably my second favourite mediums when bringing life into my pieces, although I do experiment with other art tools. Currently for about two years I’ve gained an interest in model horses by buying broken ones, fixing them up using acetate (or moulding them new parts using wire and milliput), customising them and selling them as customisations or one of a kind pieces. Otherwise I enter photo competitions online and try to capture realistic photos using my models, at the moment I’ve always placed and even won reserve/ champion titles on Youtube.

(These can be found if you type in my old Youtube name: Wildxicexdragon and look under Breyer Results)

Writing has been another passion even before I got obsessed with art. Currently I have 6 stories on the go, one is in planning stage (Racetrack Spectrum), one is hopefully going to be a manga (Secret Gaurdians), another is Fanfiction (Remaining Memoirs- Beyblade) and the other three are eventually being written or re-written (Yin and Yang: Entwined Lupis, Saki of Miu and Elemental Wolves). My nose at some points in my life was constantly in a book and still is, regardless of whether it’s manga or normal literature. My favourite genres are teenage romance, fantasy and comedy which reflect in movie and sometimes game choices. On the other hand I do sometimes buy games because the art style looks amazing or it has good reviews, usually I’m an RPG/Platform gamer sometimes playing on MMORPG types such as Zwinky but mainly Howrse. I do enjoy though trying different genres of games but I prefer ones that have a story to follow through, where we sympathise and understand the character in depth.

In the future though, I aspire to complete my extended diploma in Confetti and move onto a foundation degree in gaming in the same institution as I am now. Hopefully gaining a spot in a masters/bachelor’s degree in Leicestershire/ Oxfordshire University for animation, concept art, storyboard art or even game developing, my dream job would be to become a famous animator going freelance or working with Studio Ghlibi, Tokyo Pop and maybe Disney.

Chosen Industry Assignment: Animator

Why I Want To Become An Animator

When I was little I loved watching a lot of Pokemon and Digimon and tried to draw a lot of my favourite characters, even though they looked nothing like they on tv- then again I was only little and I started to hate art from there. This carried on until around Year 5 when I started taking art seriously because I was able to draw dolphins that were recognizable and from their I got a little creative and started practising different animals as well TMNT characters.
In secondary school I finally found out what anime and manga was and delved into Fruits Baskets and Beyblade fanfictions on Fanfiction.Net and the thought of being a manga artist suddenly exploded in my mind. Whatever spare time I had left after my chores and homework I would continuously draw until early morning….or when I decided to sleep for that matter.  Before long I started trying to create a manga known as Secret Guardians instantly showing it to my art teacher, explaining that I wanted to be a manga artist even though they greatest piece of art I had then, looks so uncontrollably crap it’s hilarious even for me. My art teacher questioned why I wanted to pursue this career and I remember saying I can’t stop drawing, it’s become such a passion I can’t let it go. She then told me to try animation and after teaching myself how to use an old version of Serif I became hooked and once again another door opened to a new beginning.
Since year 8 I taught myself without any help how to animate using Serif as my primary animation program to high-tech ones like Adobe Photoshop 6 to now where I use CS5 Photoshop. Each frame would be hand-drawn again using an onion layer, rendered and then placed in Windows Movie Maker/Sony Vegas Pro for the motion fluently. As time passed my drawings became clearer and soon I started finding shortcuts and different effects on Adobe to least make my work presentable. Even though I did mini animation tests, my first animated ‘story’ was for a Year 9 RE project called: Stop Killing Endangered Animals and Close Illegal Dog Fights.

Why Did I Choose This Role?
Since I was told to have a go at animation I fell in love with it instantly and in the past I’ve tried to animate another one of my stories: Elemental Wolves. Now I’m just back to practising Photoshop techniques and motion cycles~ especially horses due to their front legs moving like humans, whilst their back legs move like an ostrich when walking. Sometimes I will video record some of my pets to try and break down their movement cycles.
What Appeals To You?
It would be the continuous drawing, breaking down the cycles, maybe having a tantrum because I don’t know a paw or a leg isn’t moving correctly and your laptop breaks down. Then when it’s all finished you can watch your work in happy tears knowing full well what you’ve achieved and what you can do with a little more practise. I really want to become a famous animator regardless whether it’s CGI or 2D (rather do 2D though) and work with Hayao Miyazki in Studio Ghibli, Japan. Otherwise work for anime producers like Tokoyo Pop and such. My personal favourite for animating would be a wolf because they seem like one of the most easiest things to actually breathe life into and when you get the hang of drawing them, they are one of the stress-free things to draw on to your computer without having to scan work in.

Another thing would be making the scenes and movements become really realistic as though you’ve taken your mind, and displayed it on the computer before you for the whole world to see. When I animate, draw or even write as I am now music makes up a lot of my imagination where during a song I can see my characters interact- weird I know. One major downside would be it’s a very popular job among artists and even gamers so it can be really competitive and you’re not given a secured job.

What Skills Will You Need?
Personally I feel it depends on the animation job, like for gaming people there must be knowledge in 3D modelling using programs like Maya or 3D Max for CGI work whereas with a Studio Ghibli film it would be mainly 2D and hand drawn apart from some exceptions. I think for an overall animator that can do both CGI and 2D they must have:
·         Knowledge in high-tech animation programs (Autodesk Maya, maybe Photoshop?)
·         Be able to break down motion cycles
·         Have a good understanding in physics- 24 frames equal to one second
·         Be prepared to indulge in a lot of stress, over-hours and impending deadlines
·         Take criticism into consideration to improve
·         Have some art knowledge at least or be an artist in a similar media other than digital
·         It must be a passion and something that you know you want to pursue
·         Work hard and extra
·         Be able to have technological knowledge and work a drawing tablet
·         Bilingual~ learn Japanese for definite
