Hiwatari's Bio and Backstory

Name: Hiwatari
Age: 18
Species: Elemental Wolf
Element: Water
Number: Ten
Weapon: Water’s Bokken (Main) Bo-Staff (Sub)
Family: Phantom (Little Brother), Mum: Unknown, Dad: Died in battle, Step-Mum: Died in battle.
Who
Hiwatari is one of the wolves who controls the water element. In the story he has a younger brother called Phantom (the Air Wolf) who continuously plays tricks on Hiwatari, unknowing anything about their past or the fact they’re brothers. His best friend is Tomoshibi as she looked after Phantom when Hiwatari had to go on the run, misleading Hiro’s henchman and creatures away from his younger brother. He’s also known to associate with Fell (who he relates to as an older ‘step-brother) and Aeron, although during Elemental Wolves Hiwatari acts like a cold-hearted, selfish, sarcastic, vindictive creature which is the complete opposite of his true nature.
His sensei Yuki has taught him not only this certain element but ways of Bushido and other mixtures of martial arts, Hiwatari has been known to use a Bo-Staff in battle but his main weapon is a katana known as : Water’s Bokken. It’s a hand-crafted sword passed down through the Water Element family for generations.
What
In the story Hiwatari is the master of the Water Element which is tenth in the Elemental Cycle. He’s a teenage wolf his fur being a mixture of blues and light greens, to represent the ocean, rivers and ponds, but his true nature of being calm, tranquil and ambitious whilst his eyes are a gleaming mahogany colour showing him as level-headed. To represent his place in the cycle his tails count is ten which is one less than his younger brother.
Where
Hiwatari was born on the 15th January in Crystal Dynasty which is a parallel world consisting of fantasy, animals and a few humans that choose to live in an olden way, even though date and timing is the same as modern day.
Why
At the start we see Hiwatari as a cold wolf that’s constantly teased by Kaji (Tomoshibi’s younger brother) and Phantom, which brings out the worst in him and makes the lone wolf more miserable because he wants to re-connect with his younger brother and be the proper big brother he is. Fell continuously discusses that Hiwatari should explain the situation to his younger brother but Hiwatari fears it will put off Phantom and making him hate Hiwatari, however it’s not until Yuki orders Hiwatari to reveal the truth before Spear banishes Yuki that Hiwatari does this.
The reasons as to why Hiwatari is the way he is throughout most of the story, is because during the time of the Great War the Elemental Wolf tribes were thrown into hiding as Hiro and the Dark Lord were looking for the offspring to capture and control for their own needs. The Water Element pack had been wiped out except for two sole survivors, which was the same for the Air pack but only one wolf was left standing. Around this time Hiwatari was 7 years and the fighters of both packs bonded together and thus Phantom was born. A few years later when Hiwatari is 13 and Phantom 6, Hiro’s creatures were chasing the family down leading Hiwatari’s farther to the last resort of giving his son the Water’s Bokken and making him flee with Phantom to escape the darkness’s clutches.
Hiwatari promised his farther he would make sure Phantom was safe and fled across Crystal Dynasty until he came across one of the monsters that had been chasing them for months. Having no strength left to fight he came across the Light and Fire Element clan where he Tomoshibi, knowing he couldn’t provide Phantom the life he should have Hiwatari left his brother in the other clan’s care begging them to suppress his little brother’s memories and look after him; in return Hiwatari would never set foot in the clans again but would protect it from danger.
After that Hiwatari condemns himself to solitary training in the mountains teaching himself martial arts that his Dad performed and getting used to wielding weaponry, there he met Yuki and his real training began. At the age of 15 Yuki called all the new Elemental Wolves to be summoned at Yuki’s temple where the conversation of finding the new Elemental Seeker arises and the wolves are all forced to search Japan where the scent of Faith is found. Having no street smarts the pack is captured my Mr and Mrs Smith and locked inside the Sekkusu house where their journey with Faith awaits.
How
In the end Hiwatari and Phantom learn to co-operate so Faith can prevail against Spear and Hiro, Hiwatari teaches her to let go of the walls she’s put up around her like Fell and Yuki did for Hiwatari, as well as give her lessons in improving her water and swordsmanship techniques. For Phantom, Hiwatari after the battle between Faith and Hiro takes him to his parent’s grave and they spend some months training again in the mountains before the sequel beckons them back to Ryoanji.

Backstory

Hiwatari was born on 15th January his father (Spirit) being the pack’s greatest swordsman knowing the art of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Bushido and wielding the Water’s Bokken- a weapon passed down through the Water’s family for generations.  His mother Kuni was the Alpha’s sister and her influence over Hiwatari was teaching him the ‘flow of life’, how one thing connects to the other in the world and how he can control his nature of water.
At the age of 5 the Great War had begun and the Elemental packs were all thrown into hiding for Hiro’s forces were after their young. Spirit was off to keep the black creatures at bay with the other wolves whilst Kuni and a few others fled further into the rainforest, Hiwatari kept by his mother’s side all the time until one day the rest of the pack left the pair of them because Kuni had fallen ill due to disease, eventually dying holding her son Kuni told him to stay strong and that she’ll always be with him. Spirit was guided by his spirit guide (a grass snake) and found Hiwatari snuggled up to Kuni howling in the pain and the sorrow of not being able to save her. Spirit and his son took Kuni to the ‘River’s Trail, a sacred place where the deceased of the Water pack is put to rest.
Spirit and Hiwatari carried on running for their lives stumbling upon the Air pack’s territory where a she wolf stood guard. Her name was Ebon despite the appearance of being a light grey wolf, Ebon discussed about her being the last of her clan and tagged along with Hiwatari and Spirit. At the age of seven Hiwatari’s younger brother Phantom was born and became heir to the Air clan.
